State, Local ProsecutorsA study released Tuesday shows about 95 percent of 2,437 elected state and local prosecutors across the U.S. in 2014 were white; of those, 79 percent were white men.

The Women Donors Network report also found that 66 percent of states that elect prosecutors have no black people in those positions, underscoring the racial imbalance in the criminal-justice system.

The study also found that 15 states had elected white prosecutors exclusively, including Colorado, Tennessee, New Jersey, Washington, and Missouri.

The report found 16 percent of elected prosecutors were white women, while only 4 percent of those elected were minority men, compared with 1 percent of minority women. Read more at The New York Times.

  1. Blacks are 12% of the population to begin with. Half or so have criminal records (hello war on drugs). Half or so don’t even bother to graduate high schools. Of those that start undergrad, half or so don’t graduate. Of those that get into law schools (mostly affirmative action), half or so don’t graduate. Of those that do graduate law schools, very few are remotely close to being on top of their class. So even 1% of the total number of elected prosecutors is really generous. The black community fell victim to its own attitude, and to the big government policies which are supported by the politicians elected by the black community.

  2. Time to stop the racism against the white people. Go out look for a job that interacts with the govt, “minority workforce” is a prerequisite. Price and reliability is second.

For all due honesty, give a test to all perspective candidates. It should be held totally unbiased. Best scores get the job! Don’t lower the standard just so that anybody can get a 100! Nobody could help the african americans more than they themselves, their parents, and their community leaders. Al sharpton is doing a great disservice to his brothers. crying victim, stoking racial strife, encouraging violence doesn’t get them better scores, Hard work does!

I don’t want anybody who couldn’t pass a test to be elected for any position they are not qualified. Regardless of race. Race should be banned concept. Quality is all that counts!

Excellent point. Blacks are not being held back from high positions by the White man. It is their own inaction. We currently have a black President and a black Attorney general. You see, it can be done.

  4. Hey you, #1, Don’t even think of running for prez. Unless you wish to be Trump’s running mate!
    LOL
Nobody wants to be confused by the facts!!!

  5. Bronx County has had the same African American prosecutor since 1989. He was elected after Since 1990 the homicide rate has dropped by 86%. He has generally run for re-election unopposed.

  6. Race-consciousness has exceeded all rational bounds. The only question to ask is whether or not the DA is honest, unbiased and competent.
