torahA Sefer Torah stolen from the Young Israel shul in Phoenix (see the Matzav.com report here) has been returned. Phoenix police say the Young Israel of Phoenix was able to retrieve the Torah Friday.

“It is an object that becomes part of our heart and soul and to lose it becomes devastating,” said Rabbi Reuven Mann, the rov.

Rabbi Mann said that the Sefer Torah was undamaged. He said that they have received a lot of support and the fact that it has been returned is like a neis.

“The story has been all over the country and even to Israel,” he said. “It is something that has brought Jews and Gentiles together in a beautiful show of solidarity.”

Detectives are continuing to follow up on the case and no arrests have been made.

Phoenix police spokesman Sgt. Tommy Thompson said earlier this week the Sefer Torah and several other items were missing early Monday when a burglary was discovered at the Young Israel, located on Maryland Avenue near 7th Street.
