A strong winter storm made its way through the Tri-State area on Shabbos, dumping 6-12 inches of snow across New York and New Jersey.

The National Weather Service said up to 12 inches of snow could fall on parts of eastern Long Island.

Snowplows and salt trucks geared up early and were out on the roads in most areas, CBS New York reports.

Officials warned that roads could get slicker as the snow increases and the temperature gets colder.

Snow began falling from New York City and points east at mid-morning Shabbos. Snow continues to fall across most of New Jersey as a winter storm makes its way up the coast.

Forecasters say accumulations of 8 to 12 inches are possible there before the snow ends tonight.

In New York, despite the storm, the Camp Agudah Reunion will take place as scheduled at 8:30 p.m. at Torah Veyirah Hall, located at 5411 Ft. Hamilton Parkway in Boro Park.

In Lakewood, the Keren Even Habochen Annual Dinner will take place as scheduled at Ateres Chana Hall at Bais Faiga.
