Laszlo-Csatary-naziSuspected Nazi war criminal Laszlo Csatary died over the weekend in Hungary while awaiting trial. He was 98. Csatary allegedly helped deport 15,700 Jews to death camps in World War II, although he had always denied the allegations against him and insisted he was an intermediary between Hungarian and German officials and was not involved in any war crimes.

Csatary had once been one of the most-wanted war criminals and was sentenced to death in his absence in 1948 for war crimes. He was tracked down in Budapest in July 2012 by reporters from Britain’s Sun newspaper with help from the Nazi-hunting Simon Wiesenthal Center.

Csatary, whose full name is Laslzo Csizsik-Csatary, fled to Canada after the war and disappeared in 1997 after being stripped of his Canadian citizenship.

  1. He ought not be buried. Why should his ‘fardorbiner’ body be accorded a respectful burial? He didn’t allow it for his victims!!! Perhaps they ought feed it to dogs!
