Delta Airlines passengers said they were offered $10,000 each to voluntarily get off an overbooked flight this week — as the airline continued struggling with staffing shortages, cancellations and delays ahead of the busy Fourth of July weekend, the NY Post reports.

Todd McCrumb tweeted that he was aboard the overbooked flight, and he confirmed accounts concerning the airline’s generous offer. “It’s a true story. I was on that flight!” he wrote. In a subsequent interview with the station KTVB, McCrumb, who was returning home to Boise, Idaho, explained that the airline initially offered $5,000, but later increased it to $10,000. McCrumb said that amount sounded even more ridiculous and he was asking other passengers if they thought it was a joke. It is unclear how many people ended up giving up their seats, but the flight ultimately took off 20 minutes late.

At the beginning of the week, Delta warned customers of a “potentially challenging” situation for Fourth of July travelers. The Atlanta-based airline took the unusual step of waiving rebooking fees from July 1 through July 4 so long as customers maintained the same departure and arrival point.

    • its worth it for them to pay a few ppl so they can bump them instead of dealing with FAA fines and lawsuits. rather keep a few ppl happy than deal with million dollar plus fines and fees.

  1. I think I might have possibly been on the flight and conceivably got bumped. Can I claim the $10,000, if the only proof I have that I was possibly on that flight is a bag of Delta Airlines peanuts and a Delta Airlines napkin?
I missed out on the virus stimulus check, so I could really use the $10,000 to refurnish my game room, and also to purchase a new ping pong table. My current ping pong table is kind of old; I could use a new one.

  2. the world has lost its mind, which should be proof that HaShem ruins the world. no way could all this craziness have happened so quickly by so very many otherwise. the message from the Ribono Shel Olam is so loud. daven, daven, everyone, for our youth, our rebbis and moros, our chinuch, our parnossah and, mostly, for sechel

  3. Could it be there is a “ pilot shortage “ due to
    1. Pilots who quit rather than vaxx
    2. Pilots who Vaxxed and now can’t fly due to their health damage from the vaxx has rendered them unfit to fly
    3. Young pilots refuse to fly due to the vaxx requirements and are seeking other avenues of employment
    4. Fewer military members leaving to join the corporate aviation community due to their being forced to vaxx and therefore they either retired , to avoid, or they took it and now are unfit to fly.

    • Yes to all of the above. You’re saying what the corrupt media doesn’t want us to know. You are now dismissed.

  4. I think its only a voucher and can only be osed in 1 booking so its basicall 1 fist class ticket that wouldve been empty anyway so Delta isnt really losing on this
