The suspect in the mass shooting at a Pittsburgh synagogue told officers that Jews were committing genocide and that he wanted them all to die, according to a charging document made public early Sunday.

Robert Gregory Bowers killed eight men and three women inside the Tree of Life Synagogue on Saturday during worship services before a tactical police team tracked him down and shot him, police said in the affidavit, which contained some previously unreported details on the shooting and the police response.

Bowers told an officer while he was being treated for his injuries “that he wanted all Jews to die and also that they (Jews) were committing genocide to his people,” the affidavit said.

  1. Those who claim should have armed security guys in shul:
Israelis live with a heightened sense of insecurity to begin with- I used to live there as well and unfortunately it’s reality though not the most healthy one.
Having a fellow with a gun in shul will raise that for the children Growing up in America as well
Might that now be a necessity?Perhaps
(whose fault with would that lie with? Wild West pro gun nuts?)
Let us though not fall back on an immediate need jerk reactions which certainly will change the eventual atmosphere
Every aspect need to be weighed

  2. As a typical lib, esteemed CohenM sure doesn’t miss an opportunity to blame “pro gun nuts” for somebody trying to avoid “need(sic) jerk reactions”. And nobody is suggesting $100/hour security guard dressed in full riot gear, brandishing M-16 with a grenade launcher, harassing old women and children, then running away when a real danger comes. A much more sensible solution is to place the most secure on the market gun safes in a few strategically accessible locations in a shul, the safes should be set up for fingerprints of a few approved shul members who have undergone extensive firearms training and were taught to empty an entire magazine American cop style, as opposed to the “shoot in the legs to save the terrorist’s life at expense of the bystanders” Israeli pathetic “neutralization” method, the safes should always be in view of security cameras and should be electronically connected to alarm the police department any time they are opened or moved(to discourage theft of the guns). These guns would be locked away out of sight except for annual cleaning and safety inspection, the list of approved shul members should be kept up to date, and at least two of these approved members should be always present at all large gatherings. If these easy and relatively low cost steps had been implemented, not 11 but perhaps one or two congregants would have been shot before the terrorist would have caught a return fire of 40 bullets in his skull. In fact, realizing his immediate and guaranteed demise, the terrorist probably would have been deterred to begin with.
