Damascus warned Israel on Tuesday to think twice before it strikes Syrian targets in the future once it acquires the S-300 missile defense system from Russia.
In an interview with China’s Xinhua news agency, Syria’s Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad stressed that although the S-300 system will only be used if Israel attacks Syria, although it has the capability of reaching Israeli territory.
Moscow promised to deliver its S-300 missile defense system to Syria after a Russian military plane was mistakenly downed by the Syrian army, which it blamed on Israel. Israel, which had bombed targets in Syria, admitted to the airstrikes but argued that Russia was warned as per usual.
