Earlier today, Syrian rebels captured the city of Homs, with regime forces abandoning the city.  Rebels advanced to the outskirts of the capital Damascus, and the regime was forced to put out a statement denying that President Bashar Assad was forced to flee the country.

On Motzei Shabbos rebel forces confirmed they had captured central Homs, and freed hundreds of regime prisoners.  Reportedly dozens of members of Hezbollah’s Radwan forces fled Homs, after regime forces admitted the city could no longer be defended.

In Damascus, CNN has reported that presidential guard is no longer in Assad’s palace in Damascus.  Meanwhile in the neighborhood of al-Mezzeh in southern Damascus, unverified reports have claimed that regime forces have left the area.  The IDF has routinely attacked targets in the area related to the IRGC and Hezbollah.

Bloomberg reported that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad had a message sent to President-Elect Trump, asking for support in exchange for cutting ties with Iran.  Assad has also reportedly sent a message to Hungarian President Viktor Orban, asking for support to protect Syria’s Christian minority, out of fear the Islamist rebels would put the community in danger.

Earlier, Trump stated that, “The United States should have nothing to do with” the Syrian civil war. “This is not our fight. Let it play out. Do not get involved!”

  1. Assad’s terrorist regime has boruch Hashem finally come to an end. Wouldn’t be surprised if Trump was behind it unofficially… even though he declared: ‘The United States Should Stay Out of Syria. This is not our fight. Let it play out!’
