A popular Japanese restaurant near Deal that had been under the supervision of the JSOR is now under new ownership, who have chosen not to continue paying for kashrus supervision. Takara, which was the only kosher hibachi restaurant in the Central Jersey region, attracted many frum families who enjoyed watching the skilled chefs make their dishes in front of them in classic hibachi style.
In a brief statement, the JSOR said, “Please be advised that Takara of Deal/Oakhurst has been bought by new owners and is no longer kosher. This change has nothing to do with the mashgiach or JSOR. It was the new owner’s decision.”
