doveYnet reports: “It’s a real wonder,” one of the talmidim at the Kamenitzer Yeshiva says about his new classmate – a white dove. “This holy bird just listens to full lessons.”

Several weeks ago, during a shiur in the Yerushalayim yeshiva, a white dove entered the bais medrash, sat on the window sill and flew out at the end of the lesson.

The following days, the bird would arrive at the yeshiva and stand in the corner for the entire lesson – prompting the excited yeshiva students to view it as a sign from Hashem.

They created a “studying circle” around the bird and began reading Gemara and begging forgiveness from the soul which they believed “wandered” into the dove. Surprisingly, these actions did not help send the mysterious bird away.

Rumors about the righteous bird became the talk of the day in Yerushalayim, and students watching the dove with binoculars discovered that it would visit the rooftop of the nearby Vizhnitz yeshiva as well.

The yeshiva students tried to test the bird once again and sealed all the entrances to the yeshiva, but it “miraculously” managed to get in and attend its regular class on time.

“A few days ago,” Bakehila reported, “one of the yeshiva students, who could not bear the great waste of time that could be spent on studying Torah, went over and kindly took (the bird) to his home, where he fed it.”

The yeshiva student even took the dove to a slaughterer, but it turned out that the magnificent bird does not meet the rules of kashrus and the yeshiva is now contemplating what to do with it.

  1. I remember personally a cat turning up regularly at the Shiurim of Reb Nochum ZT”L, It was sitting down near him for the whole length of the Shiur.

  2. omg are you ppl for real????!!!! it was a bird!! thats it. imagine a bird doing this at an office of business man… should the man discuss hedge funds with it? what about on window of a bank? should u give it money?

this one is for the birds.

  3. I think they should stop harassing the poor thing and give it to the dibuk that stopped in eretz yisrael a couple weeks ago and see if he can do something with it

  4. Reminds me of a story I heard first hand from a talmid of Yeshivas Torah Ore.
A cat was constantly following a few bochrim around, and into the Bais Medrash as well. One day in the streets of Yerushalayim, one of them turned to the cat and said “Mochel lach” 3 times. The cat dropped dead on the spot.

  5. #5…you have a point…however…but…there is a but. How many stories do you know of a bird coming in time and again into an office, a bank or the like?
Don’t just discard everythng to “Natural causes”.There are many things in “Your” life that may seem natural…but are way beyond that! You are just not aware, because you view life as “simple, natural”. Most of life is not as natural as you think. You just aren’t open to it!!!

  6. number 10 or 11 i dunno you are so anonymous. yes you are correct there is natural and unnatural. but here is a case of normal and abnormal. i cant believe i am responding to all this. my favorite part of story is…… “they begged forgiveness and surprisingly “surprisingly” are u kidding? its a surprise that it didnt go away.

  7. one time i saw a cat. thats it it was a pink cat. then it said something….. not a pshat in tosfos.. not a shailah for matzav buit it said meoooooooooooooow!!!! ya know why cuz its a cat

  8. #16…there is normal and abnormal. I am a very solid person, well grounded bh. All I was saying is that we don’t know. There are things that look so normal and natural to us and we don’t know the inner workings. Most things are not exactly what meets the eye. We live our lives daily with an attitude of “things just are”and go about our lives. There is a dimension far superior and above us that governs the “things just are”. They may look simple and matter of fact. Normal. But we, as simple people, unless we are open to it, can see beyond the superficial sometimes…if we want to or choose to.
We can go about our lives and live very superficially,to each it’s own. Then again, there are some people who see something different in the “simple and ordinary”. It’s up to us. And I’m not saying that everything you look at has some double meaning. But the truth is, there is depth to everything..Being a jew…everything gashmios is ruchnios..you need to connect with that. Most of us don’t. Maybe we ought to.
And maybe you don’t understand what I am saying at all.
