Rabbi Avraham Wein, assistant rabbi at Congregation Keter Torah in Teaneck, New Jersey, was assaulted outside his home, according to local authorities.

Despite reports that he was attacked while building his sukkah, the attack did not take place while he was constructing his sukkah.

Nor was he hospitalized, as many reports claim.

Police said the attacker emerged from a vehicle and struck Rabbi Wein before two nearby witnesses stepped in and restrained the assailant until officers arrived.

The rabbi is reported to be in good condition.

The suspect is in custody, and officials emphasized that the incident appears to have been an isolated one.

Rabbi Wein previously worked as a rabbinic assistant at Congregation Beth Sholom in Lawrence, New York, and currently teaches Judaic Studies at Torah Academy of Bergen County. Originally from Queens, New York, he studied at Yeshivat Har Etzion and later served as a madrich for Har Etzion alumni at Yeshiva University.

Authorities said the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack remains ongoing.

  1. I find that the story is very hard to believe and understandable. The fact is it doesn’t make sense for me and the other two people in this group.
