Presidential candidate Ted Cruz said Monday that he would “of course” support federal agents actively looking for undocumented immigrants to deport. In an interview, Bill O’Reilly asked Cruz if he would send forces to, for example, nab a father who “overstays his visa—and he’s got a couple of kids.”

Cruz responded: “You better believe it.” In January, the Texas senator had dismissed anything akin to a “deportation force” on CNN, saying at the time: “I don’t intend to send jackboots to knock on your door and every door in America. That’s not how we enforce the law for any crime.”

After Cruz’s interview, Joe Pounder, campaign spokesman for Republican rival Marco Rubio, tweeted: “Tonight, @tedcruz endorsed an idea he expressly rejected just five weeks ago. What changed? SC.” Read more at NBC News.
