rav-yosef-shalom-elyashivThe condition of Maran Rav Yosef Shalom Elyashiv is deteriorating and he needs rachamei Shomayim. Medical tests on Thursday at Shaarei Tzedek Hospital in Yerushalayim revealed that Rav Elyashiv has water in his lungs and that his heart is working only at 20 percent capacity.

Doctors decided there was no reason for him to be hospitalized and that it would best for him to remain at home, where he is receiving medicine and medical care.

R’ Shlomo Kook, spokesman for Rav Elyashiv’s home and son of Rav Elyashiv’s close talmid, Rav Ben Zion Kook, said that rumors of kidney problems and a general failure in his body are totally untrue.

Last week, Rav Elyashiv was able to leave home to serve as sandek at a bris, after which he underwent routine medical tests at the hospital and was determined to be in serious condition. Rav Elyashiv served as sandek again this morning at the Tiferes Bachurim Shul located adjacent to his home in Meah Shearim.

Tomorrow night, Rav Elyashiv’s youngest grandchild, daughter of his son-in-law and daughter, Rav and Rebbetzin Binyomin Rimmer, will be getting married in Yerushalayim, and we are told that Rav Elyashiv is not expected to attend the wedding due to his precarious state.

All are asked to daven for Rav Yosef Shalom ben Chaya Musha.

  1. May I suggest that people leave this holy tzaddik in peace – people should not be running to bother him with questions etc., as he is frail and has enough to worry about.

  2. No you may NOT suggest what people should or should not do.
The family is well aware of the situation and they have a reason why they allow people in
Indeed it’s not like it used to be but they want his mind to be active and they are doing that by allowing people in with shailas and bakashas for brachas
I was thinking not to go because of his matzav and his einikel asked that I should come

  3. #1 – I think it is up to this holy tzaddik to decide if he wants to answer questions or not. If his gabbaim don’t allow it, then that is his will and must be honored but if they do, then maybe this is what gives the Rav strength and vitality while leaving him alone would weaken him?

  4. why don t you post the full name at the headihg so thillim can be said righ away some people are not interrested in yantish details

  5. let us daven that he have a refuah shleima

HUNDREDS OF TRAGEDIES HAVE OCCURED recently-all over the world-& KLAL YISROEL HAS STILL NOT GOTTEN THESE WAKE-UP CALLS FROM HASHEM TO START DOING TESHUVA. thus leaving Hashem no choice
May all of Klal yisroel start doing teshuva NOW-before tragedy strikes again C”V-& THEN mashiach will come b’karov

  6. Years ago when he was in his thirties the doctors said his heart was weak and he wouldn’t live long. We know it’s up to Hashem. We should all daven that he has a refua shlama. Eight yearts ago the Israeli doctors thought he wouldn’t make it then either.
