Tefillos for Rav Chaim Yisroel Belsky

Rav Chaim Yisroel Belsky, rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Torah Vodaas in Kensington, Brooklyn, is in need of rachamei Shomayim.

In an email to alumni and talmidim of the yeshiva, Rabbi Yitzchok Gottdiener, Executive Director of Yeshiva & Mesivta Torah Vodaath, states that Rav Belsky continues to be hospitalized due to a serious health condition and that tefillos are needed.

“Despite the best efforts of his doctors,” the email says, “the rosh hayeshiva has weakened and the condition is not improving. Please be mispallel. Everyone is asked to daven and be marbeh in their tefillostzedakah, hachzokas Torah and maasim tovim as a zechus for Chaim Yisroel ben Chana Tzirel l’refuah shelaimah b’soch she’ar cholei amo Yisroel.”

Rav Belsky is one of the senior, preeminent poskim and Torah minds of the generation and senior posek of the OU Kashrus Devision, a position he has held since 1987. He has been the rov of Camp Agudah since 1967.

Rav Belsky is a son of Rabbi Berel and Chana Tzirel Belsky. His maternal grandfather was the legendary Torah pioneer, Rav Binyomin Wilhelm zt”l, founder of Yeshiva Torah Vodaas.

Rav Belsky learned and received semichah from Yeshiva Torah Vodaas in 1962, and from Rav Moshe Feinstein in 1965. He also studied at Bais Medrash Elyon in Monsey for a number of years, having been one of its most prominent talmidim.

Rav Belsky’s chiddushei Torah have been printed in volumes titled Piskei Halachos, Einei Yisroel on Chumash, Sha’alos U’Teshuvos Shulchan Halevi, and other publications.
