chacham-ovadiah-yosefAll are asked to say Tehillim for Chacham Ovadiah Yosef , who is suffering from extreme pain in one of his legs. Rav Yosef had difficulty walking from his home to the shul where he davens every day, which is located one floor under his home in the Har Nof section of Yerushalayim.

Rav Yosef, one of the most brilliant Torah minds of our day, recently turned 92 on 11 Tishrei. He is a former Sephardi Chief Rabbi of Israel and currently serves as the spiritual leader of the Shas political party in the Knesset.

Chacham Ovadiah was born in Baghdad, Iraq, the day after Yom Kippur. In 1924, when he was four years old, he immigrated to Yerushalayim with his family. As a teenager he studied at the Porat Yosef Yeshiva, where he advanced to the highest shiur taught by the rosh yeshiva, Rav Ezra Attiya. Between 1958 and 1965, Chacham Ovadiah served as a dayan in the Yerushalayim district bais din. He was then appointed to the Supreme Rabbinical Court of Appeals in Yerushalayim, eventually becoming the Chief Sephardic Rabbi of Tel Aviv in 1968, a position which he held until his election as Chief Sephardic Rabbi of Israel in 1973. In 1973, Chacham Ovadiah was elected the Sephardic Chief Rabbi of Israel

May Chacham Ovadiah have a refuah sheleimah and have the strength to continue learning and leading Yidden ad meah ve’esrim shanah.

  1. let us please put our self-centered lives aside for just a few minutes & daven for this Tzaddik. before its too late & we say i wish i should’ve davened for him….

lets not add another tzaddik to the tzaddikim that have already left us R”L its our loss not the tzaddiks.

take out a tehillim, with your wife & children during dinner for 2 minutes & turn your meal into a mitzva

may he have a speedy refuah shleima

  2. L’kaayem Banu Chachmei Yisroel!

The Tzibbur is also asked to Daven for Rav Shlomo Brevda, Shlita, who is in the ICU suffering from a serious illness and needs our Tefillos. Saying Tehillim daily in his Zechus for the Refuah Shelaima of “Rav Shlomo Leib Ben Miriam” would be greatly appreciated.

Rav Brevda requested that we increase the intensity of our Tefillos during Dovening and say Tehillim (day and/or night) whenever the opportunity arises. He feels in very dire straights. Please request that a Misheberech to be said for the Rav during Shabbos Kryias HaTorah.

    Thank you.

  3. Amen to all the brachos, but there’s no name for Tehilim given. Don’t you think that was an important detail to look for before posting?

  4. Typical Matzav! They get caught up with agansa hesped while the Gadol is still alive, and they leave out the basics, like the choleh’s name!

  5. I remember on a previous occasion when Rav Ovadia had not been well that his name that was given I think was Ovadia ben Mazal Tov.
