search-israel-desert[Update below.] Original post – 4:10 p.m. IDT: There is serious concern for the welfare of two yeshiva bochurim, Moshe Cohen and Moshe Maman, who left yesterday on a hike in the Nachal Mishmar section of in Midbar Yehudah. This morning, at about 6 o’clock, the boys dialed 100 and related that they had lost their way and did not know where they are. The boys said that their cell phone battery was about to die any moment. They have not been heard from since.

Police immediately called various rescue units and began an extensive rescue effort in the region. Meanwhile, a police helicopter was dispatched to search for the boys.

Rescuers have expressed concern that they have had a bottle of water, they are probably out of danger.

In the last hours, additional rescue units have joined the search, hoping to find the boys as quickly as possible and before the onset of Shabbos.

Reb Bentzion Oiring of Zaka in Yerushalayim said that he spoke to the parents of the boys, “who had relied on the boys [that they knew where they were going].”

The wider public is asked to say Tehillim for Moshe ben Yocheved and Moshe ben Mazal Tov.
