On Tuesday morning, a shooting attack in the Tayasir area of the Jordan Valley left eight individuals injured, two of them in critical condition. Preliminary reports indicate that the assailant opened fire on IDF soldiers stationed at the Tayasir Checkpoint. IDF forces at the location engaged in a firefight with the attacker, ultimately neutralizing him.
To transport the wounded to the hospital, two Air Force helicopters were sent to the scene. The IDF later confirmed the details, stating: “A terrorist fired at soldiers at a military post in the area of Tayasir. The soldiers eliminated the terrorist during exchanges of fire.”
Earlier in the week, the IDF had announced an expansion of operations in the region, with plans to deploy additional troops from the Bislach Brigade into the village of Tammun, which is part of a larger zone referred to as the “Pentagon area.” This area also includes the villages of Tubas, Tayasir, Fara, and Aqba.
In recent months, there has been a noticeable rise in terrorist activities originating from these five villages, including the placement of explosive devices along roads and the use of firearms.
