Missile attacks launched from Iran led to the deaths of five people and injuries to at least 20 others in Be’er Sheva, as air raid sirens repeatedly rang out across Israel during a tense, hour-long period.
Magen David Adom (MDA) confirmed that among the injured, two people were in moderate condition and were taken to Soroka Hospital for treatment. Six others sustained minor wounds.
The majority of those hurt suffered from lacerations, trauma to their limbs, or stress-related symptoms, according to the emergency response agency.
Three residents who had been taking shelter on the fourth floor of a residential building in Be’er Sheva were rescued from the debris by emergency personnel, MDA said. KAN News noted that the missile assault had damaged a seven-story building in the area.
Fire and Rescue Services reported that only one person remained unaccounted for and that crews were actively searching the scene. “We emphasize again—do not enter the scene! The arrival of civilians endangers public safety and makes it difficult for rescue forces to operate.”
In a separate incident, rescue teams said that fragments from an intercepted missile fell near Ben-Gurion Airport.
Elsewhere, MDA dispatched units to northern Israel following reports of missile fragments causing damage in the Sharon region. A 15-year-old boy was among those injured in the vicinity of Hadera.
Even after the ceasefire—announced by US President Donald Trump—was supposed to begin at 7 a.m. local time, Iran continued launching missiles into Israel’s northern region.
Iran’s state-controlled media outlet SNN stated around 7:20 a.m. that Tehran had begun to adhere to the ceasefire, following four separate missile salvos directed at Israel.
“We saw thick smoke rising from the crash site, and as we approached, we saw extensive destruction in several buildings,” said Shimrit Sela, a senior MDA paramedic.
“Outside one of the buildings, we saw a man lying unconscious at the entrance to one of the buildings. When we went inside to search the building, we saw a man and a woman unconscious. We have set up a point to treat the injured, and we are conducting medical examinations on residents who are leaving the buildings.”
