On Monday evening, sirens blared in multiple cities across central Israel after a missile was fired from Yemen towards the country. The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit explained, “Following the sirens that sounded a short while ago in Central Israel, a missile launched from Yemen was intercepted by the IAF prior to crossing into Israeli territory.”

The statement also clarified that the sirens were triggered by concerns over potential falling shrapnel from the interception.

Shrapnel from the interception was found in the cities of Beit Shemesh and Rehovot. After about 25 minutes, operations at Ben Gurion Airport resumed, as flights that had been paused during the siren were cleared for departure and arrival once again. During the siren, an 18-year-old girl was struck by a vehicle while heading to a shelter in Yavne. Medics and paramedics from Magen David Adom quickly provided her with medical care before transporting her to Kaplan Hospital in Rehovot, where her condition was listed as light.

In response to the incident, Tel Aviv District police launched operational searches in the area based on reports, to identify any potential impact zones and offer support to the public. The missile strike from Yemen occurred shortly after air strikes from the US and the UK in Yemen.
