As reported prior, the victim in today’s deadly terrorist shooting attack in the Old City of Yerushalayim was Eliyahu David Kay, a recent immigrant to Israel from South Africa who was an employee of the Western Wall Heritage Foundation, working as a tour guide in the Old City.
He was a 26-year-old chosson, engaged to be married soon.
Kay was a native of Johannesburg and had learned at Rabbinical College of Australia and New Zealand.
Rav Shmuel Rabinovitch, rov of the Kosel, said in a statement this afternoon that Eliyahu would give all those who visited the Kosel plaza a warm welcome and did his work with devotion and dedication.
After he was shot, Kay was taken to Hadassah Medical Center, but efforts to save his life were unsuccessful.
