When Sen. Ted Cruz suspended his campaign Tuesday night, he offered no congratulations to the man who had just vanquished him: Donald Trump.

POLITICO reports Cruz thanked his family and unofficial running mate Carly Fiorina, but offered nothing for his party’s presumed nominee. He did not even acknowledge that, in dropping out, the nomination is all but sealed by a man Cruz earlier Tuesday described as “utterly amoral” and a “pathological liar.”

The Texas senator did, however, offer a veiled jab at the nominee.

“America is kind. We are not boastful or mean-spirited,” he said.

  1. Don’t get it. Was he supposed to say now that the American people have spoken , he is moral, he is a truly honest man? Maybe he actually has principles? Maybe he doesn’t want to give into this humiliating, self-promoting, pathetic candidate?

  2. well, why would he congragulate the man who went after his wife, his children, his father?

I still say- write in Ted- if enough conservatives sit out the election- and enough Democrats sit out becasue Bernie is done- we may still have a chance

  3. Commenters #1 & #2 are absolutely correct. While normally a gracious concession speech is expected and even de rigueur, in this case Senator Cruz is entirely within his rights to forgo one. If “Lyin’ Ted”, mocking Mrs. Cruz’s looks, accusing Cruz’s father of complicity in President Kennedy’s assassination and the many, many more sewer tactics (a step below gutter tactics) aren’t enough of a reason for Cruz to skip the gracious concession, nothing is.

  4. Ted Cruz has some sort of delusion in thinking he is the reincarnation of Regan 76, from his dream of a contested connection, to picking a running mate in middle of the primary, to bowing out now with the open hope that trump will lose and he’ll be back in 4 years, ad was evident in his speech last night. The man is having an mental breakdown.

    • Hey Shmuel,
Donald Trump and his followers are the delusional ones! They think that this man who has basically ripped people off for his whole “business” life e.g. bankruptcies, Trump U., can actually accomplish something as president. And, as if that’s not bad enough, the lowlife Trump only won because he was meaner and nastier than everyone else!
The only thing Ted’s wrong about is that Americans are kind and good hearted people. If we can believe the polls Americans, at least Republicans, would rather have a mean spirited buffoon.

  5. This is first time in my life I will not be voting for the Republican candidate in a national election.

Either I will write someone in or I will not vote but there is no way I will vote for Trump.

  6. Solutions, I don’t know if that is the best idea.
We’ve done tougher things in galus than pull the lever for Trump in Nov., assuming he surrounds himself with good people. Don’t get me wrong, I detest the man and think it’s deplorable that he wasn’t drummed out any number of times, starting with calling McCain a loser. I was really looking forward to a contested convention. But your cheshbonos are off. You know all those crossover voters in the primary? Don’t assume that too many want Trump, they just figured he was the weakest candidate against either Democrat and they’ll gleefully vote Democrat in Nov.

  7. ” assuming he surrounds himself with good people”

So far he has not. His foreign policy advisers are inexperienced unknowns of a largely isolationist bent who would have him roll back America’s involvement in the world. And his campaign staff isn’t much better.
