It is with great sadness that Matzav.com reports the passing of the Ashlag Rebbe, Rav Yechezkel Yosef Ashlag zt”l, this afternoon at the age of 80. The rebbe was niftar at Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv.
The rebbe was born in Eretz Yisroel on 26 Nissan תרצ”ו, the eldest son of his father, Rav Shlomo Binyamin Ashlag, and a grandson of Rav Yehuda Leib Ashlag.
As a young man, he studied at Yeshiva Sefas Emes in Yerushalayim and was very close to his illustrious zaide, Rav Yehuda Leib.
He married a daughter of Rav Shammai Ginsburg, author of Imrei Shamai, and, in addition to assisting his grandfather in his later years, helped his father, who led his bais medrash and yeshiva on Rechov Shadal in Bnei Brak.
After his father’s passing in 1984, he succeeded his father and opened a bais medrash on Rechov Ibn Ezra in Bnei Brak, where the rebbe established learning frameworks to complete Shas and led a kollel.
The rebbe was known as a tremendous talmid chochom and published various works, including Zohar on Tehillim, Zohar on Mishlei, Zohar, on Shir Hashirim, Zohar on Koheles, Zohar on Nisuin, and Zohar on Bris Milah, Adra Zuta Kadisha, and more.
The rebbe leaves behind doros yeshorim, including his sons, Rav Yehuda Ashlag and Rav Eliyahu Yisroel Ashlag.
The levayah will be held at 9 p.m. at the Ashlag Bais Medrash on Rechov Ibn Ezra in Bnei Brak, followed by kevurah on Har Hamenuchos in Yerushalayim.

Sorry to hear the news, 80 is very young today, when ppl are living way over 90, like 95 96, so yes 80 is young today

for your information. we have lost hundreds of Gedolei Hador in the past 3 years alone & many of them were niftar in their 60’s & 70’s this is what we call a mageifa (lives that were taken away very quick & young as a wake up call for teshuva to prevent it from continuing)
