
Rav Meir Sofer zt”l, one of the well-known figures of Rechov Rashbam in Bnei Brak and a renowned sofer stam who specialized in crafting batim for tefillin used by gedolei Yisroel, passed away at Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer. He was 82 years old.
Rav Sofer was born on the 23rd of Iyar, 5703 (1943), to his illustrious father, Rav Shaima (Shamai) Sofer zt”l, a respected sofer in Yerushalayim, and his mother, Mrs. Reizel a”h.
A man of sincerity, integrity, and deep yiras Shamayim, Rav Sofer devoted his life to avodas Hashem through the sacred work of writing STaM and crafting batim for tefillin. Over the years, many gedolei Yisroel entrusted him with this holy task, purchasing tefillin made under his meticulous care and relying on his exceptional expertise.
He was a beloved member of the Lederman Shul on Rechov Rashbam, near his home, where he was known for his warmth, humility, and genuine kindness to all.
Rav Meir leaves behind a distinguished family who continue to follow in his path.
The levayah took place beginning at the Lederman Shul on Rechov Rashbam in Bnei Brak and continuing from the Shamgar Funeral Home in Yerushalayim to Har HaMenuchos, where he was laid to rest beside his family.
The family is sitting shivah at his home, located at 24 Rechov Rashbam in Bnei Brak.
