The CDC Confirms Remarkably Low Coronavirus Death Rate. Where Is The Media?

Most people are more likely to wind up six feet under because of almost anything else under the sun other than COVID-19.

The CDC just came out with a report that should be earth-shattering to the narrative of the political class, yet it will go into the thick pile of vital data and information about the virus that is not getting out to the public. For the first time, the CDC has attempted to offer a real estimate of the overall death rate for COVID-19, and under its most likely scenario, the number is 0.26%. Officials estimate a 0.4% fatality rate among those who are symptomatic and project a 35% rate of asymptomatic cases among those infected, which drops the overall infection fatality rate (IFR) to just 0.26% — almost exactly where Stanford researchers pegged it a month ago.

Until now, we have been ridiculed for thinking the death rate was that low, as opposed to the 3.4% estimate of the World Health Organization, which helped drive the panic and the lockdowns. Now the CDC is agreeing to the lower rate in plain ink.

Plus, ultimately we might find out that the IFR is even lower because numerous studies and hard counts of confined populations have shown a much higher percentage of asymptomatic cases. Simply adjusting for a 50% asymptomatic rate would drop their fatality rate to 0.2% – exactly the rate of fatality Dr. John Ionnidis of Stanford University projected.

More importantly, as I mentioned before, the overall death rate is meaningless because the numbers are so lopsided. Given that at least half of the deaths were in nursing homes, a back-of-the-envelope estimate would show that the infection fatality rate for non-nursing home residents would only be 0.1% or 1 in 1,000. And that includes people of all ages and all health statuses outside of nursing homes. Since nearly all of the deaths are those with comorbidities.

The CDC estimates the death rate from COVID-19 for those under 50 is 1 in 5,000 for those with symptoms, which would be 1 in 6,725 overall, but again, almost all those who die have specific comorbidities or underlying conditions. Those without them are more likely to die in a car accident. And schoolchildren, whose lives, mental health, and education we are destroying, are more likely to get struck by lightning.

To put this in perspective, one Twitter commentator juxtaposed the age-separated infection fatality rates in Spain to the average yearly probability of dying of anything for the same age groups, based on data from the Social Security Administration. He used Spain because we don’t have a detailed infection fatality rate estimate for each age group from any survey in the U.S. However, we know that Spain fared worse than almost every other country. This data is actually working with a top-line IFR of 1%, roughly four times what the CDC estimates for the U.S., so if anything, the corresponding numbers for the U.S. will be lower.

As you can see, even in Spain, the death rates from COVID-19 for younger people are very low and are well below the annual death rate for any age group in a given year. For children, despite their young age, they are 10-30 times more likely to die from other causes in any given year.

While obviously yearly death rates factor in myriad of causes of death and COVID-19 is just one virus, it still provides much-needed perspective to a public policy response that is completely divorced from the risk for all but the oldest and sickest people in the country.

Also, keep in mind, these numbers represent your chance of dying once you have already contracted the virus, aka the infection fatality rate. Once you couple the chance of contracting the virus in the first place together with the chance of dying from it, many younger people have a higher chance of dying from a lightning strike.

Four infectious disease doctors in Canada estimate that the individual rate of death from COVID-19 for people under 65 years of age is six per million people, or 0.0006 per cent – 1 in 166,666, which is “roughly equivalent to the risk of dying from a motor vehicle accident during the same time period.” These numbers are for Canada, which did have fewer deaths per capita than the U.S.; however, if you take New York City and its surrounding counties out of the equation, the two countries are pretty much the same. Also, remember, so much of the death is associated with the suicidal political decisions of certain states and countries to place COVID-19 patients in nursing homes. An astounding 62 percent of all COVID-19 deaths were in the six states confirmed to have done this, even though they only compose 18 percent of the national population.

We destroyed our entire country and suspended democracy all for a lie, and these people perpetrated the unscientific degree of panic. Will they ever admit the grave consequences of their error?

  1. This article should have ended off with a detailed list of all those precious people that we have lost due to this Virus.
How about the people that did survive, but are now living with failing kidneys?

  2. remember the videos of 8 body bags per day in our funeral homes…..remember the many many almanos and yisomim……….remember how many times a day there were posts on this site about people who were nebach nifter….. how many people do you know personally that died from this?? i know more then i would like to……….. very nice numbers and all, but a lot of young people are saying kaddish right now……. and children are still saying tehillim for fathers on vents ……something doesnt really add up…. this virus is dangerous and it should be treated as such.

  3. You should be embarrassed that this has been posted on your website. Are you oblivious to the many deaths in our community? Are you blind to the many who have suffered for weeks and who may never fully recover? Cut the political garbage about the media and have a drop of sensitivity to the many many many who have passed.

  4. Not sure why the semantics are so important. At the end of the day many people including some younger healthy people died from it. Do you know anyone who died from the flu?? High percentage or low percentage isn’t the be all of the question at stake. It is a question of do we attempt to save the lives of the vulnerable or not. I side with saving lives. Obviously there may be ways to ease the lockdowns and allow people to resume some semblance of normalcy, however is requiring masks too much to ask when it comes to helping mitigate the spread of this virus? Do we leave that to the decision making of people who don’t think twice about the guy standing next them? Yes let life go forward but with common sense and utilize the means we have to try and mitigate the spread.

    • Well do you side with saving lives? I don’t know anyone who died of any infectious disease. But people do die from them. Younger people even. But they’re just percentages, and you don’t know anyone who died, so that’s OK.

Masks irritate my face and cause my nose to run profusely. But apparently its fine to increase my chances of catching an allegedly deadly disease by forcing me to wear a mask.

  5. Wow. Just amazing how quickly people forget and are willing to be brainwashed.

End of the day, Pesach time people were dying left and right R’L. From the many I know personally who were niftar ,not a single one of them was in a nursing home. Many didn’t even have any proip health conditions. And don’t forget the thousands who were hospitalized in serious condition. And the thousands who were scared to go to the overcrowded hospitals even though their condition called for it

So don’t pretend corona virus is not a serious public life and death threat

    • The overcrowded hospitals were only in religious Jewish neighbors worldwide and that’s where they had the most deaths l”o. In other neighborhoods, cities and states the “hospitals were eerily empty” as the NYT reported, even in NYC. In Israel, for instance, in Yerushalayim and Bnei Brak the Chevra Kadisha was overloaded, on the other hand, in Haifa, Netanya, Arad and other cities the Chevra Kadisha said they had 60% less work than usual. Could you understand?

    • Yes we are being brainwashed by the U.S government and the mainstream media. Ask yourself this how do we know all those people you claimed died of Covid-19? how many did of other reason? You can’t believe everything the mainstream media tells you. First it was so deadly that if you made eye contact you might get it now it sounds like they are back pedaling now that more and more people are waking up to this science experiment that did not go as planned for them.

    • you don’t recall that many died from neglect and starvation in the hospitals for whatever reason…………..

  6. It takes time to write a headline “we were wrong”. Nobody is pretending that Covid 19 in a serious health crisis, just not as deadly as predicted.

  7. “We destroyed our entire country and suspended democracy all for a lie. . .”

Except that the country hasn’t been destroyed and democracy hasn’t been suspended. And a lie means a deliberate untruth; a mistaken statement, even if one was made, isn’t a lie. Other than that. . .

  8. This article ignores another important point. If the infection rates rise to levels that the hospitals can’t handle, then the mortality rate skyrockets. When proper care cannot be given to people affected by the disease, people who would have survived under “normal circumstances” (i.e. receiving proper care at a hospital) will die.

    • Does it skyrocket though? We really only guess that more people could have been saved. And the lock down = saving lives calculation really doesn’t take into account the cost. That destruction gets ignored. Lives that might get lost that way won’t be counted. I don’t want many people dying, but I also know that we have to be realistic. Lock downs are not free, but they’re treated like they are.

  9. Its something in between.
Problem is that Demonrats don’t want to let go of power and are hoping they can destroy the economy to get rid of trump.

  10. Excellent letter. Yes, it is true we lost many lives. I would recommend people to watch the presentations of front line physicians who came forward exposing the medical mismanagement. There were treatment protocols that were abandoned many weeks after they had been exposed to be killing people. Unfortunately, many if the these front line doctors’ reports were removed from YouTube. This censorship squelched science. Any doctor who disagreed with the World Health Organization was removed from major information platforms. YouTube’s collusion with the World Health Organization (which is currently funded primarily by Bill Gates), prevented informed debate about care for Covid. When you follow the dollar in health care, it helps you understand policy making. Gates being able to set policy and have all physician dissenters removed from mainstream information platforms allowed the corruption to continue unexposed. Please look up Dr. Kyle Cidel’s criticism of vent use right at the start of the high mortality rates. If he has been permanently removed you can find him on Del Bigtree’s Highwire podcast. Gates will profit in the 100s of billions off a vaccine.

    • Bill Gates will not profit off of the vaccine. Microsoft isn’t developing a vaccine, rather he has donated to labs that are. He has already announced that he will be donating his vaccine at cost price. Besides, all insurance companies must cover vaccines reccommended by the CDC by law.

This conspiracy is absurd, besides, there are at least 15 different vaccines in the running, there is no indication Gates’ vaccine will turn out to be more successful than the rest.

    • Bill Gates won’t make a cent from any vaccine. The only people who will make money are the manufacturers. And since the patents will be freely available every company with the facilities to make a vaccine will be able to do so and sell it.

  11. Judy, stop spacing out and open your eyeballs. You are a conspiracy theorist. The United States has one of the greatest healthcare systems in the world. You believe that healthcare workers don’t care about anyone and just ate sandwiches or something will people were gasping their last breaths? That is a bizarre and strange belief. The world is not perfect and mistakes happen particularly when there’s high stress like when the worst pandemic in modern history happens. Why would anyone believe that we al w
