The Dictator’s Red Carpet

I have long ago accepted that the Obama administration is pathologically incapable of acting in the interests of U.S. national security.

First and foremost on the list of Obama’s misguided and arguably self defeating policies, is his baffling soft treatment of Iran and its twisted dictator Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. It is however when leadership is weak, that ordinary people are forced to step up to the plate and true heroes are born. It is therefore greatly concerning that the overall response of the general populace regarding Iranian belligerence is somewhat apathetic.

The beauty of our democratic society is that individuals really do have a voice although the option to vote doesn’t come every day; the opportunity to make your voice matter is always available. There are a number of ways to influence policy, to express our disgust and displeasure and to fight for our rights and for those of oppressed nations and peoples around the world.

This week, on the first day of a month long U.N. conference in New York reviewing the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty, Ahmadinejad dismissed charges that Teheran’s uranium enrichment program is designed to produce bombs pointing out that these long-standing suspicions are leading the US and others to seek another round of U.N. economic sanctions against Iran.

Addressing delegations of 189 treaty nations, the Iranian leader denounced the Obama administration’s refusal to rule out the use of US nuclear weapons.

“Regrettably, the government of the United States has not only used nuclear weapons, but also continues to threaten to use them against other countries, including Iran,” Ahmadinejad said.

The audacity of this man is incomprehensible; that he is able to stand before this global forum and spew such twisted moral perversions with a straight face is beyond comprehension. The fact that such people exist, is sadly not news, but the challenge to a civilized society is how we deal with them, and to halt them before they inflict irreversible damage and harm upon all of us.

So what can concerned citizens do? Here is a good start.

Besides the political permissions, there are a whole host of mechanisms that need to be in place in order to facilitate Ahmedinejad’s trip to New York. Many are carried out by business enterprises that are quite susceptible to being persuaded or pressured into rejecting him and his cohorts as clients. Businesses may include airlines, airports, hotels, catering and travel services and more.

If concerned citizens of NY and around the country made it a priority to punish these enablers and facilitators, it would be difficult or impossible for Ahmedinejad to pull off a visit like this.

During this trip the Iranian delegation is staying at the Millennium Hotel at 1 United Nations Plaza, the hotel is owned by Millennium & Copthorne Hotels plc and is directed by Ms. Wanda Chan, who in the position of General Manager, is charged with making decisions with regard to denying or allowing service to certain guests.

Over the phone Ms. Chan refused to confirm or deny that Ahmedinejad was a guest at the hotel, and failed to respond to my follow up e-mail, however pictures have surfaced of him entering the hotel and there can be no doubt that he is staying there.

It is our duty to send a strong message to indifferent executives who care about nothing but the bottom line, that to facilitate and provide hospitality for a murderous rogue will have dire financial consequences for their business.

The hotel chain should be subject to a complete boycott by members of the concerned public, and the individuals responsible should be directly challenged by all.

Ms. Wanda Chan of the Millennium Hotel can be emailed at: [email protected] or called at 212 758 1234, I encourage all readers to let our voices be heard.

The Author is the director of the Algemeiner and the GJCF and can be e-mailed at [email protected].

  1. “Regrettably, the government of the United States has not only used nuclear weapons, but also continues to threaten to use them against other countries, including Iran,” Ahmadinejad said.

And what is “such twisted moral perversions” in above statement? Are we living on the same planet, reading the same history books at least?

  2. Don’t waste your time bothering this hotel chain. They’ll laugh it off and it will have zero impact.

Learn Torah instead. THAT will be far more effective.

  3. I really can’t figure out why the USA would let such a person in to their country. Who cares why he came and why he is here? If their would be a UN summit or meeting of some sort in Iran,Syria, or any of these terroristic countries does anyone think that the Iranians would allow the USA or any of their allies enter their country????? If they woul we would get them back in boxes and also in exchange for some attomic bomb… It is just because the west has to be so politicaly correct and the arabs who couldn’t care less about lying through their teeths, That the west is going through what they going through.

  4. I have a better idea why dont we give him some of his own medicine. The suv that didnt blow up in time square. and blow it up on him

  5. Why would the USA let such a person on their soil. If a UN summit like this was to be held in Iran,Syria or any of those countries, does anybody think that they would allow west delegations inside the country?? If they would we would ge back thei coffin in exchange for some atomic and biological WMD weapons. It is just because the west ahs to be so politicaly correct and the arabs who lie through their teeth and promises don’t mean anything to them that we are where we are, giving them land in ISRAEL, EUROPE, and soon USA
I hope the west wakes up and realizes what are they doing to their society, culture and future

  6. I think the intentions here are highly commendable but let us think of the other side of the coin bearing in mind what happened by the Grossman murder with the 60,000 emails sent to the Governor, and also lets not forget that some people are not so diplomatic and write in very harsh style and so we could end up making a massive chiul Hashem, with zero results

  7. is this guy for real!?!

The gemoro says that people who have mercy on the wicked, will end up being wicked to the weak. If the U.N. and the Obama administration (although he was also in New York during the Bush years) can be merciful, respectful and patient to him, its scary to know what they may do to the helpless.

  8. He is actually very good pres and cool it might take time like two years but one thing I know is he’s doing good for Iran

  9. BTW, the U.S. is obligated to allow any U.N. member head of state (i.e. the President of Iran) into New York for a U.N. session.
