The Orthodox Union and the CRC (Hisachdus Harabbonim) have released a joint statement  (see above) regarding the kashrus of Birdsboro beef.

The statement follows the spreading of rumors and claims regarding the kosher status of said meat, which is sold, in the Bingo supermarkets in New York and New Jersey.

The two supervising agencies assure kosher consumers that Birdsboro beef is glatt kosher l’mehadrin and there are no concerns to be had.

Birdsboro released a statement of its own (see below), stating that “a rumor has been spread of an imaginary michshol that supposedly occurred with our meat. This story is fabricated… The rumor is a complete fabrication from beginning to end. There was neither a story nor a scandal.”

  1. The person who initially spread this rumor probably had some sort of financial motive.

I hope these letters are enough to restore the public trust. (it does not seem that the rumors have spread too far before the quashing letters came out)

On a similar but different topic, Bingo needs to get their act together regarding their refrigeration. For example, the right zone of the deli fridge in the Lakewood location is usually some between 45 and 55°F.
For an open front refrigerator that reading is way too high, and in the summer months product bought out of that case is likely to go bad significantly before its date because of this lack of care.
