Cold and stale air conditions allowed coronavirus particles to travel more than 8 meters (26 feet) at a German slaughterhouse, a study showed, giving an insight into how meat plants turned into hotspots for infections across the world.
Researchers reconstructed the likely cause of the outbreak at a Toennies Group slaughterhouse in Rheda-Wiedenbrueck, where about 1,500 workers contracted the virus. Similar conditions at plants globally are a reason they’ve become virus epicenters, according to the report from groups including the Helmholtz Center for Infection Research.
Meat plants from the U.S. to the U.K. and South America have seen the rapid spread of the virus, infecting thousands of employees who often work in close proximity on processing lines. Dozens of workers have died, and labor advocates have said that a lack of social distancing could continue to put people at risk. Outbreaks also forced American meat plants to close earlier this year, sparking some protein shortages.

People refuse to wear a mask because they can’t breath in it, suffocate and choke in it, and are afraid of the toxicity from inhaling carbon dioxide. Many indeed have fainted on the streets or were hospitalized with breathing issues and even died from masks. Those who want others to wear a mask because they themselves have no problem wearing it, should wear a double one. If masks are to protect the wearer, it’s none of your business if they wear it or not.

I recommend you look up face masks for beards, or face masks for easy breathing. There are several patterns with instructions, that can be downloaded and sewn. Some of them are extremely simple to sew, with easily available cotton fabric and plain elastic, so you can pick a masculine, feminine or cheerful print. If you, or your wife/mother/sister in law/neighbor don’t sew, bring the stuff to a seamstress or a tailor.

Why do you sarcastically write “The Latest Claim”? China has said since the beginning 9m and I repeatedly wrote this in the comments (“9m, not 9ft”) and it was stated it was not a superior limit, rather an estimate (sigma or standard deviation, for the scientifically inclined). So in Germany they did a test with a wind gallery, and detected the virus at 15 meters (45 ft) which was the length of the wind gallery tunnel i.e. the experiment setup itself. It is unlikely but possible that the virus aerosol (not the droplets, that are shorter-range) travels rather long distances i.e. 50 feet or more.
Please ask yourself what the truth is, rather than what is convenient, and make up your mind for yourself. If someone is smoking, outdoors and indoors, how far will you have to be not to perceive the smell?
It is very unpleasant to use a fitted KN95 in this heat, but they WORK.
By the way in cold environment the virus is very stable. It is estimated that at frozen food temperature it might live 20 years.
And if someone sneezes very strong, it can travel even further.
True sometimes in the winter a sneeze can trvel up to a half mile!

Sneezing and coughing can propel the virus very far, but will be blocked by a mask. Oh wait, in the USA that’s a political statement.
