r-ezrachi_cropped_bwWhat prompted the venerated, nonagenarian gadol, Rav Michel Yehuda Lefkowitz, to take the time and effort to personally pen a letter to be read at the Acheinu Lakewood asifa scheduled for next Motzoei Shabbos, Parshas Ki Savo, September 5th? What spurred Rav Michel Yehuda to exert himself to give a special address that will be broadcast to the multitudes of Lakewood Bbnei Torah at the asifa?

Why is Rav Boruch Mordechai Ezrachi, rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Ateres Yisroel, coming to address the Lakewood olam in the middle of Elul zeman?

The answer to all these questions is that they have seen the “peiros,” the fruits. They have seen the fruits produced by the labor of love invested into kiruv rechokim by Acheinu, the dynamic kiruv organization in Eretz Yisroel, and they deem it a zechus to participate in anything that will give Acheinu chizuk and help further its goals.

Rav Matisyahu Salomon, mashgiach of Bais Medrash Govohah, on a trip to Eretz Yisrael last year, gained a firsthand look of Acheinu’s work and gave the keynote address at Acheinu’s 2nd Annual International Kiruv Conference. Rav Salomon will give a special address at the Acheinu Lakewood chizuk asifa to be held at Bais Faiga Hall.

What is Acheinu? Why are so many gedolei Yisroel enamored with the organization and its work? Acheinu is an organization that has developed a unique strategy for kiruv – a strategy that reaps a phenomenal success rate, translating into some 93% of its charges becoming and remaining shomrei Torah umitzvos.

Acheinu works with a very targeted segment of the non-religious Israeli public, with the specific goal of not only ensuring that their charges assume shemiras hamitzvos, but that they also grow into bnei Torah who will remain within the walls of the bais medrash engaged in in-depth Torah learning and lead lives dedicated to limud haTorah.

Acheinu’s unique three-step approach is as follows:

Step 1: Acheinu assigns a kiruv worker who effectively adopts a child. That child has access 24/7 to his kiruv worker who, in turn, offers unlimited emotional and even monetary support as the child is imbued with the ideal of joining a yeshiva or Torah school.

Step 2: Enrollment. The close relationship between kiruv activists and their protégés eventually blossoms, resulting in the children being enrolled in select yeshivos.

Step 3: This step, Acheinu’s aggressive follow-up program, is perhaps the most important. Enrollment in a yeshiva or Bais Yaakov does not necessarily mean that the kiruv rechokim effort has been completed. Rather, it has just begun. Ensuring that the children will develop into true Bnei Torah is perhaps the most crucial juncture in kiruv rechokim. Acheinu maintains constant contact with the young teenager, his parents and the faculty of the yeshivos to smooth out small issues that arise before they develop into large problems capable of derailing the entire kiruv process.

At this year’s chizuk event in Lakewood, to commence at 9:45 p.m., the community will be afforded the special opportunity to hear powerful and inspiring words of chizuk from Rav Boruch Mordechai Ezrachi, who will deliver the keynote address. Rav Matisyahu Salomon will also convey the importance of Acheinu’s work and how it is even relevant to bnei Torah of Lakewood.

The opportunity to see the venerated gadol, Rav Lefkowitz, give an address exclusively for the Lakewood community is a unique zechus.

Most important, attendees will be giving much needed chizuk to “Acheinu” bnei Yisroel, whose neshamos are starving to return to Hashem and His Torah.
