kiryas-yoel-rubashkinFollowing the multitudes who attended gatherings across the country last week for Reb Sholom Mordechai ben Rivka Rubashkin, thousands gathered last night in Kiryas Yoel to learn about the continuing injustice and show solidarity for the brother in tzaar.

The kinnus in Kiryas Yoel was addressed by Rav Menachem Meir Weissmandel, rov of Nitra in Monsey. The assemblage also heard from Reb Getzel Rubashkin, a son of Reb Sholom Mordechai, and Rabbi Chaim Berger.

Rav Pinchos Lipschutz, publisher of Yated Ne’eman who has spearheaded the effort to assist Reb Sholom Mordechai, was in attendance but politely declined repeated requests for him to address the gathering, having spoken at several gatherings last week.

Last night’s event followed similar gatherings in communities including Flatbush, Boro Park, Lakewood and Chicago.

  1. This whole thing is a tragedy but maybe the purpose was to be a catalyst for achdus, that we can only hope has some degree of kiyum.

  2. The achdus that Reb Sholom’s story has evoked is breathtaking!

Now that this has been accomplished, we implore the Ribbono Shel Oilom to bring Reb Sholom Mordechai ben Rivka min hamaitzar el hamerchav toikef umiyad!!!

  3. Tzippie…how right you are…and how quickly

    love we forget!!!!!
How many reminders do we need to get our act together once and for all?We are all very “together”in a time of tzar, but do we really rejoice for the joy of others? As soon as it’s over, we go our own seperate ways and start, or rather continue, with the machloikes again. Until it hits you directly in the face, we don’t really wake up. Sad, but true.
Love your fellow jew pertains to “ALWAYS”!!!!

  4. To # 5 (“Anon”)

One minor difference: Shalit is being held by Arab terrorists, Rubashkin is threatened by the civilized country we inhabit.

  5. Not one website that I know of has written about this incredible kiddush Hashem besides Matzav. Welcome to the world of “Orthodox” blogosphere where frum is bad, modern is good, and don’t confuse me with the facts.
