Last night, many thousands converged on the Kosel to say Selichos at a gathering organized by Rav Yitzchok Dovid Grossman, legendary rov and kiruv leader in Migdal Haemek. All the talmidim from Rav Grossman’s mosdos, Migdal Ohr, took part in the gearing at his behest.
Crowds began to gather at about 11:30 p.m., and at midnight Rav Grossman addressed the crowd of about 5,000, urging the listeners to return to their roots, explaining that every person is connected to the Borei Olam.
“Every Yid is a cheilek Elokah mimaal,” he said, adding that the Ribono Shel Olam chose us, Klal Yisroel, and gave us “the Toras Emes, and it is up to us to follow the derech Hashem.”
“Dear brothers,” the rov added, “we are here at the world’s most sacred place, near a remnant of the Bais Hamikdosh, from where the Shechinah has not moved.”
Rav Grossman added a tefillah for Gilad Shalit, Gilad ben Avivah, the captured IDF soldier who remains in the tefillos of Yidden across the globe.
