It has been two days since the conclusion of Shabbos after Rosh Hashanah, and thousands of Breslov Chasidim are trapped at the Ukraine-Romania border, wishing to return home.

According to sources from the community, many people are forced to wait outside in the inclement weather, without proper shelter.

Per a senior source in United Breslov: “The Ukrainians have created an electronic line and they only accept those who booked an appointment ahead of time. And sometimes there are no open appointments for the border for many hours ahead. It creates insane chaos.”

The situation at Bacău airport in Romania is being described as ‘critical.’ One travel agent said: “The airport management, together with local police, have taken sole control… They are not willing to listen or to allow the travel agents to bring in travelers if it is necessary.”

Flights are taking off from the airport with empty seats, making the situation on the ground even worse.

Sources close to the chairman of United Breslov in Uman, Rabbi Natan Ben Nun, have said that he is working around the clock and using all of his diplomatic connections in attempt to solve the crisis.

Israel’s Foreign Ministry is attempting to get involved to help get the Chassidim back home, but have so far been unable to make any real progress.

Warning that anyone who violates the rules could end up with a ‘black visa,’ United Breslov activits are emphasizing the importance of adhering to all customs regulations, especially in light of the current situation.

  1. We must double our efforts to give every penny we have to Zelenskyy and his Ukrainian olagarch buddies. We must bleed America dry for the cause. The ends justify the means. America, and hurricane victims last.

  2. Don’t go to Uman for Rosh Hashanah. Ukraine was the worst to Jews during the Shoah. Stay home with your family. Don’t show your children that you can go off on the holiest days of the year.

    • Those who go to Uman or to gravesites of other Tzaddikim obviously want the merit of Tzaddikim to intervene for them in Heaven.

  3. רבי שלמה זלמן אוירבעך זכר צדיק וקדוש לברכה
He was born in Eretz Yisroel and he never in his life left the borders of Eretz Yisroel. One of his grandchildren got married in England and Reb Shlomo Zalman did not travel for the wedding.

  4. Agree or not with people going to Uman for Rosh Hashanah, now we have thousands of our brothers stuck in terrible conditions, just because of antisemitism. (By next year, they’ll have forgotten… Let’s just hope that it won’t be “necessary” for them to go to Uman to be able to daven “with” Rebbi Nachman.)

  5. They told you not to come. You didn’t listen to them. They were, are and remain anti semites. Stop expecting goyim to like us and help us. When they help us, it’s always with an ulterior motive.

  6. Warnings of Do Not Go To Uman could not have been clearer. Apparently the warning was there for a reason. Not like they didn’t know something could happen.

  7. Cry me a river !

They knew all the risks they were taking by traveling through a real war zone.

You cant fly in and out of Kiev , so they need to fly into surrounding anti semitic countries all of whom are having a fun time harassing the Jews.

  8. why is it that I don’t really care? I know thats its Aseres Yemei Tshuva, But I have no sympathy for them. There were many requests asking people NOT to go this year. But these folks just need to run away from their wives and children. Perhaps they will have learned a lesson, but I doubt it. You cannot fix stupid.

      • I dont need to prove you wrong. Many people agree with me. They had plenty of warnings but they need to be oiber chuchems. I repeat. You cant fix stupid.

        • Many people agreeing with you, doesn’t make you right. Abe is right. You seem to have Ahavas Yisroel issues.
Jews living near Arab villages in Israel were also warned of the danger. But wouldn’t you help them out when terrorist neighbors attack or you would just fold your hands saying you had plenty of warnings but you wanted to be oiber chachomim.

          • let me ask you a question. right now there is a major storm about to hit Florida. Everyone was told to evacuate. If someone stays behind and C”V dies, you would say he was warned. Stupidity has nothing to do with being Jewish and going to Uman after being warned, or staying in the storm after being warned. It has NOTHING to do with Ahavas Yisroel.
In addition, you have a lot of nerve comparing those who were attacked by terrorists to those fools who just had to run away from their families to party in Uman. Exactly, what warnings did the people who were attacked on 10/7 have?

  9. The video that circulated on WhatsApp of hundreds of pilgrims stuck by the romanian border was an awful reminder of scenes from 1942 when Jews were trying to escape Nazis and were stuck. That video shocked me and left me with a horrible feeling of jew hatred at a time where antisemitism worldwide is at its highest level since WWII. In fact we should never travel to eastern Europe. They simply hate us. .
