The levaya of R’ Ari Fuld Z” HY”D, the 44-year-old Israeli man who was killed in a stabbing attack in Gush Etzion today, saw thousands in attendance on Sunday night and an outpouring of condolences, including from Prime Minister Netanyahu, who regarded Fuld as a “hero of Israel.”

“I’ve met the parents and wonderful brothers of this hero of Israel, Ari Fuld,” said Netanyahu in a tweet after the visit with Fuld’s family. “I embraced them in the name of the entire nation in this time of terrible grief. We are alive thanks to heroes like Ari. We will remember him forever.”

Fuld was stabbed and seriously injured, but had managed to get backup drawing his personal pistol in attempt to neutralize the terrorist.

Ari Fuld’s brother, Hillel Fuld, issued a statement online after his death hailing him as a hero.“He lived as a hero and died as a hero. My big bro is gone. Thanks for the messages. Really. Just looking for oxygen now,” the message read.

Fuld’s sister in law, Shoshanna, also issued a statement praising his love for Israel. “Ari Fuld was a true hero. He believed in the people of Israel and the land of Israel according to the Torah of Israel. He loved the land. He was an educator, a teacher, and constantly fought to show the world the truth,” she said. “This morning he went shopping, and a terrorist stabbed him in the back, hitting his lung. Later he died of his wounds. The people of Israel and the land of Israel lost a true warrior today. His entire soul and task was to sanctify God and the people of Israel,” the sister in law concluded.
