US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Washington would no longer be bound by the 1987 Intermediate Range Nuclear Forces (INF) treaty unless Moscow withdraws a new system that has threatened to trigger an arms race.

“The United States today declares Russia in material breach of the treaty and we will suspend our obligations as a remedy in 60 days unless Russia returns to full and verifiable compliance,” Pompeo said after talks with fellow NATO foreign ministers.

  1. Can’t give in to opportunistic Russia: more you give in, more they demand. Russia is no longer a superpower nor an empire, just another gas and oil export based economy, with diminishing and elderly population. If there was an arms race, Russia’s economy would fail miserably. For all the supposed tough guy image, Putin knows that his country is a paper tiger, and he will give in, once he knows that Americans are determined enough. Poor Vladimir misses President Hussein.
