Three people involved in an anti-Israel protest were taken into custody early Tuesday morning for damaging the Israeli Embassy in The Hague, according to statements from the embassy, local police, and Israel’s Foreign Ministry.
The attackers doused the embassy’s entrance and windows with red paint and shattered the glass doors, leaving visible cracks and damage.
Police in The Hague said they apprehended the suspects in the Johan de Withlaan area, not far from the embassy, and placed them under arrest.
Although splashing red paint has become a common method of vandalism among anti-Israel activist groups, authorities noted that at this stage there is no evidence linking the incident to any specific organization.
Israel’s Foreign Ministry confirmed that none of the embassy staff were injured during the incident.
Israeli Ambassador to the Netherlands Modi Ephraim posted on X/Twitter that the “cowardly act” was “yet another illustration of the dangerous consequences of rising hatred and incitement.”
