German police said several people have been killed and others injured in a knife attack in the southern city of Wuerzburg on Friday, with local media reporting three people killed and six wounded.
They said the attacker was arrested after an officer used a firearm against him. Police did not give a number for the casualties, but the Bild newspaper reported that at least three people were killed and six others injured.
Bild said the suspect was shot in the leg.
Police spokeswoman Kerstin Kunick said officers were alerted around 5 p.m. to a knife attack on Barbarossa Square in the center of the city.
