In a penetrating message, the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah of Degel Hatorah, the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah of Agudas Yisroel, and the Moetzet Chachmei HaTorah of Shas, issued a joint statement, pleading with all those visiting Meron this Lag Ba’omer to follow all the rules and outlines laid out by the organizers, who have labored for months to ensure a safe and enjoyable celebration.

The joint kol koreh asks that “each and every person who plans to visit Meron do their part for the common good and obey the instructions given for the benefit of the public.”

  1. Where is it brought down that a yid must slam shut his gemorah and trek to Meron to dance around a fire? This is not the Yiddishkeit we grew up with. Is this what the Aibishter wants?!

    • Where is it brought down that a Ben Torah must slam shut his gemorah and go the beach and sit around
בהתפשטות הגשמיות there for hours on end or to other vacation resorts?

And if you go to a wedding for who knows how many hours of a friend or family, you do the same. Meron is a “Hillulah – a wedding”.

  2. אחינו בני ישראל all over the world: WE NEED YOUR PRAYERS TODAY D E S P E R A T E L Y !

More URGENT than anything is for Klal Yisroel to pray for the Yidden going to Meron. The fact that the government paid for leaders/gedolim to make their hadlokess in Meron when they generally light it in their own town, is very disconcerting, especially since chareidim have officially taken over to be in control, and…

  3. For all the ignorant people, this has been a custom in EY for centuries, (naming the Ar”i, Beis Yosef, Ohr Hachaim Hakadosh, Ramak etc.). Yidishkeit is more than the gemara, although talmid torah kneged kulam. If anything, summer bein hazmanim is a very recent development.
I actually never went, as I am a product of litvishe yeshivos, but to say they are making up something new is ignorance.
Not everything that is not yeshivish is not yidishkeit…..
And besides, I always feel this gives us a slight idea what it means aliya laregel, as I was very impressed that the first song they sang tonight by the Boyaner hadlakh was racheim bechasdecha, to show what we are all waitng for is Yerushalyaim bitifarto.

  4. Ehrliche Yid,
As far as I know ehrliche yiden are not judgemental about other yiden (example Rav Moshe, Rav Yaakov, Rav Shteinman, Rav Chaim Kanievski etc.)
