The IDF Spokesperson’s Office revealed this morning the identities of three soldiers who perished in combat in Gaza.
Lieutenant Colonel (ret.) Netanel Yaacov Elkouby, aged 36 and hailing from Haifa, lost his life in battle in the southern region of Gaza.
Captain (ret.) Yair Cohen, aged 30, a resident of Ramat Gan, also fell in combat in southern Gaza.
Sergeant first class (ret.) Ziv Chen, aged 27, from Kfar Saba, was killed in battle in the same southern area of Gaza.
Moreover, two reservists sustained severe injuries during the conflict in the southern Gaza Strip.
Elkouby, who pursued a civilian career as a chef, leaves behind his wife, Sarit, and their five children.
In 2019, he earned recognition from the Chief of Staff as an exemplary soldier, remarking, “I attribute this to my consistent attendance during reserve duty, enabling me to lead my company to significant accomplishments within the battalion and brigade.”
His close friend, Ben Binyamin, paid tribute to him on social media, expressing, “Nati, my cherished and beloved friend, I struggle to accept the heartbreaking news of your sacrifice for the State of Israel, defending our homeland. It’s surreal to comprehend that you’re gone; your radiant smile will forever linger in my heart. Rest peacefully, dear friend, and watch over your beloved family from above—your wife, your children, your father, and your dear sisters. You’ll forever remain in our memories, dear friend.”
