Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) dismissed the remarks made by former President Barack Obama about his campaign, characterizing them as a “compliment.” During an interview on “Fox News Sunday,” Scott stated, “Being attacked by President Obama is the highest form of flattery.”

In the previous week, the former president criticized Scott, an uncommon Black candidate in the GOP primary, for his comments on race and racism in America. Obama argued that voters had the right to be skeptical of minority candidates who downplayed the existing inequality in the United States. Speaking on his podcast “Axe Files” with Democratic strategist David Axelrod, Obama said, “There’s a long history of African American or other minority candidates within the Republican Party who will validate America and say, ‘Everything’s great, and we can make it.’ If they’re not acknowledging and proposing solutions to the inequalities, then people are rightly skeptical.”

Scott, however, challenged this notion while appreciating the former president’s critique. He remarked, “Whenever the Democrats feel threatened, they bring out the former president to make negative comments about a candidate, hoping it will harm their numbers.” Scott has consistently argued that America “is not a racist country” and shared his personal story of growing up with a single mother and eventually serving in Congress as evidence to counter the claims of the radical left.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass emphasized that Obama’s remarks were about more than just one success story. During an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Bass stated, “Certain states and cities are avoiding the truth about U.S. history. We must not only focus on the positive aspects, like George Washington’s cherry tree, but also acknowledge the reality of the 350 enslaved individuals he owned. The entirety of the American story needs to be told to overcome our problems and understand how we arrived at this point.”

  1. Obama is cunning but he forgets that there are biased men who achieved not because of exceptional nose but by trusting in their own divine providence. Mr. Scott fits in and strengthens not black America but true American living providence.

If he is a good choice for the presidency it is because he keeps more in mind than skin color family.

What an idiot. Karen Bass is the reason many blacks are failures. Same with my City, Chicago.
