  1. Rav Moshe (ben Dovid) Feinstein . . . was universally acknowledged as the posek of the American Litvish community.

Furthermore, Rav Moshe Feinstein was THE GADOL HADOR (THE ABSOLUTE LEADER OF THE GENERATION). These were the exact words spoken by Rav Elazar Shach, ZT’L, in his euolgy on Rav Moshe.

This was recognized by all segments of the Torah/Orthodox world: Sephardic, Ashkenazic, Misnagdish, Litvish, Chassidic, Chareidi/Ultra Orthodox, Yeshiva University, Modern Orthodox.

Even the Lubavitcher Chassidim, who, of course, viewed their rebbe, Rav Menachem Mendel Schneerson, ZT’L, as much more than the Gadol HaDor, greatly revered Rav Moshe and sent a delegation to the funeral.

Even the Satmer Chassidim, who, of course, viewed each of their rebbes, Rav Yoel Teitelbaum, ZT’L, and Rav Moshe Teitelbaum, ZT’L, as virtually the Gadol HaDor, greatly revered Rav Moshe and sent a delegation, led by Rav Moshe Teitelbaum himself, to the funeral.

Even the Yeshiva University and Modern Orthodox people, who, of course, viewed their rebbe, Rav Yosef Dov Soloveitchik, ZT’L, as virtually the Gadol HaDor, greatly revered Rav Moshe and sent a delegation to the funeral.
