toldos-avrohom-yitzchok-rebbe-5The Toldos Avrohom Yitzchok Rebbe of Yerushalayim, Rav Shmuel Yaakov Kohn, who is currently in North America on a multi-week trip, has been hospitalized with erysipelas in his leg, commonly referred to in the Yiddish vernacular as a “roiz.”

Prior to the Rebbe’s departure from Eretz Yisroel, his condition raised doubt as to whether he should undertake the overseas trip on behalf of his mosdos. His physician gave the green light for the trip, but this past Sunday the Rebbe’s condition worsened and he came down with an infection that required hospitalization. The Rebbe is being treated with antibiotics.

Doctors at the hospital are conflicted as to whether the Rebbe could continue his four-week trip or if he should return immediately to his home in Yerushalayim. For now, we are told, he will be resting for a week before attempting to continue his visits to various kehillos.

The Rebbe had been slated to visit Lakewood later this week and this Shabbos, and then attend two events early next week. His schedule for the duration of his stay in America remains up in the air.

Under the Rebbe’s leadership, Toldos Avrohom Yitzchok has influenced communities throughout Eretz Yisroel and the world. Since the founding of the community fifteen years ago, tens of thousands of Jews have been attracted and inspired by the hislahavus of the tefillos and tishen which the Rebbe leads each week.

The primary focus of the Rebbe’s annual visit is to seek financial support for the Torah mosdos, learning programs and chesed services of Toldos Avrohom Yitzchok.

All are asked to daven for Rav Shmuel Yaakov ben Yenta.

  1. He’s a great man! He gave up the leadership of Toldos Aharon, which was to be his Al Pi Din Yerusha for the sake of Shalom!
