bmg-smallIt’s often said that tea events in Lakewood are meant for newlyweds and newcomers anxious to find new friends and a niche in town. To some extent, that’s true. Ask any woman why she doesn’t go to teas and she’ll likely tell you that she’s too old or too busy. Maybe she simply feels no connection with the event, or perhaps she’s just not a ‘tea person.’ But there’s one tea that defies age, activities and attitude – the Annual Tea of the Women’s Organization of Bais Medrash Govoah, otherwise known as “The Yeshiva Tea.”

Renowned for its outstanding décor, delicious food and an outstanding program, the BMG Tea is an assured promise of an enjoyable evening and a chance to meet with friends. More than this, the tea offers the opportunity for every woman in town to express her heartfelt gratitude for the primary role the yeshiva plays in her life. In a sense, the tea provides the neshei chayil of the community with the same opportunity to say ‘thank you’ as the Annual Evening of Chizuk in the spring affords their husbands.

And this doesn’t mean only the wives of the yeshiva yungeleit. Not everyone has a husband in yeshiva, or even a son or a grandson. But it’s very possible that your child’s rebbi, your neighbor’s husband, or maybe your favorite retailer is an alumnus of BMG, and you and your family are constantly benefiting from the staunch Torah values he gained there. In truth, no one can live in this celebrated Ihr HaTorah without being aware that the yeshiva is its inner core, the stimulus and cause of its development and success. The shuls, the schools and the stores are all an outgrowth of the presence of BMG and bear its stamp. Even the overall atmosphere of Lakewood makes you aware that it’s a yeshiva town. Visitors invariably comment on its ‘special’ nature, its Torahdike gefeel, something Lakewooders may tend to take for granted. This makes the tea an ideal time to register recognition of the pervasive influence of the kol Torah and to reaffirm one’s allegiance to everything it stands for.

Excitement is in the air as preparations for this year’s tea near completion. The event will be held this Sunday, 28 Cheshvan/November 15, in Lake Terrace Hall. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and there will be a sumptuous milchige buffet and an exquisite Chinese auction.

The program will begin promptly at 9:15 p.m. The rosh yeshiva, Rav Yeruchem Olshin, will deliver divrei bracha. The beloved Rebbetzin Rischel Kotler will deliver welcoming remarks.

At the event, an Appreciation Award will be given to Mrs. Krasie Benedikt for her role in designing the Zafir Family’s renovations at the Adolf and Ethyl Beren Bais Medrash of Bais Medrash Govoah.

Mrs. Caila Weintraub will share musings and observations on changing time in the Ihr HaTorah.

An inspiring audio-visual presentation, titled “Ashrei Mi She’amalo BaTorah,” will round out the evening. The Chinese auction drawing will take place at 10:30 p.m.

Look forward to an incomparable evening for an incomparable cause, and at the same time earn the precious zechus of supporting the Torah of the yeshiva and elevating its talmidei chachomim.
