nat-lewinNat Lewin, the prominent Washington DC attorney and Orthodox Jew, will grace the central Brooklyn gathering on behalf of Sholom Mordechai Rubashkin tonight. The rally will be held following the formal announcement of the sentencing today and on the eve of the sentencing which will take place in Iowa tomorrow.

The asifa will be held tonight, at 9 p.m., at Bais Yaakov Hall, located 4420 15th Ave. in Boro Park, Brooklyn.

Other speakers include Rabbi Pinchos Lipschutz, publisher of Yated Ne’eman; Rabbi Avrohom Schorr, rov of Khal Tiferes Yaakov; Rabbi Shimon Zev Meisels, rov of Bais Medrash Yismach Moshe in Kiryas Yoel; and Getzel Rubashkin, son of Reb Sholom Mordechai.

The gathering for men only is expected to draw a massive crowd. A similar gathering on June 10 in Monsey, NY, drew over 3,000 people who came together to pray on behalf of Mr. Rubashkin.

Mr. Lewin, renowned as a champion of justice and expert in human rights and constitutional law, will present a unique viewpoint on the travesty of justice taking place in Iowa. Mr. Lewin, heads the legal team which will be appealing the verdict which found Mr. Rubashkin guilty of bank fraud. He is an old family friend and believes passionately that Sholom Mordechai is the victim of an over-zealous prosecution.

Furthermore, he believes that the Rubashkin family was singled out for prosecution in part because of the campaign led against them by PETA and as such is an attack on kosher shechitah in America.

The Rubashkin family, known for its stubborn mesiras nefesh for Torah yet in Russia from where they hail, achieved national recognition for their many selfless acts of tzedaka and chesed. As simple, good, people, they never sought recognition for their philanthropy. And now that their legal imbroglio has left them destitute, it is through the generosity of an appreciative public who have taken up and adopted their cause, that their legal bills are being paid, enabling them to fight to reclaim their reputation and freedom.

The Jewish community views Sholom’s incarceration since November, 2009, as a further injustice.

The religious community has adopted Sholom Mordechai as a brother and is eagerly following ever facet of this case. Brooklyn residents anticipate this opportunity to hear a first person update and analysis of the case which has held their attention for the past two years, while demonstrating their support for Mr. Rubashkin at this critical time.

Similar rallies are being held across the country, from New Square, NY, to Miami Beach, Florida, to Los Angeles, CA. The Brooklyn rally, which is being organized by the Klal Yisruel Fund, based at 53 Olympia Lane, Monsey, NY, 10952, will also be addressed by Rabbinic heads, communal leaders and family members.

  1. another indication of the slow, but increasing anti-semitism in the USA(& world). We ae seeing the same pattern that developed in Germany in the 1930s.
Never again? Then you better be preparing now.

  2. I am so angry over this sentencing. I can’t believe we can just sit and watch this judge ruin someone’s life unjustifiably! I want to do something! THIS IS CRAZY!!!!!!!

  3. I researched Judge Linda Reade. She is one of the worst judges on the bench. A former DA she always favors the prosecution. She is known to insult and demean Defense attorneys. She has no compassion for people whatsoever.
There was a conflict of interest here. She authorized the raid at Agri, therefore, she should not have been the one to judge. Also, the hashness of the sentence is ridiculous. The absurdity of her judgement will make it that much easier to appeal. May Hashem set Shalom Rubashkin free very soon.

  4. to MAD & the rest of Klal Yisroel
if we want to do something ITS TESHUVA until then these trageties R’L will have to continue until we wake up & do teshuva & show Hashem that we care for one another & yearn for rightuousness
