About 350 tons of fruit and 5,280 gallons of olive oil were distributed by the Sheviis Foundation in recent months.
Low grade olive oil was used for Shabbos and Chanukah lighting, and high-quality oil for regular use.
Rav Bentzion Kugler, chairman of the foundation, said that while most people feel that shemittah is over, many farmers still have shemittah fruit growing under the aegis of Otzar Beis Din, which needs to be distributed in accordance with halacha.
Sales of such fruit are expected to continue until the end of Adar.
