verrazanoIt’s full speed ahead for more than 40,000 runners in the New York City Marathon early Sunday morning. Central Park’s West Drive from 110th St. all the way down is currently closed as crews prep the finish line for the race. In addition, the 72nd St. transverse road is closed from Fifth Ave. and 72nd St. all the way to the West Side. What this means for you is that Fifth Ave. traffic will be extremely heavy, especially approaching and south of 72nd St. The 65th/66th St. and 79th/81st St. transverses will pick up much of the traffic.

Come 11 p.m. on Motzoei Shabbos, crews will prep the start line and close the upper level of the Verrazano Bridge in both directions, followed by the entire Verrazano Bridge at 7 a.m. on Sunday. The Verrazano isn’t scheduled to reopen till at least 3 p.m.
