Eliyahu, who hailed from Yerushalayim, was a talmid of Yeshiva Ofek Yehudi.

The search for Eliyah began on Wednesday, a day after he visited the area, while the kayak he had rented was founded dumped on the beach.

The search was carried out by the police naval police unit and ZAKA’s Missing Persons and Divers Unit.

Police had received a report from members of the family of the young man from Yerushalayim who went to kayak in the Herzliya beach area and had since disappeared. The police opened the search and a few hours later located the kayak on the beach, about a kilometer from the young man’s supposed exit point to the water.

Police continued to search for him, using police boats and a police helicopter.

Toward the end of Shabbos, the body was found deep in the sea, south of the marina in Herzliya.
