A female officer of the Israel Defense Forces lost her life on Thursday morning in a tragic incident at a military base in southern Israel. The officer was fatally injured when a container fell, crushing her. At the same location, a male soldier suffered minor injuries due to being struck by a heavy object.

The deceased officer has been identified as 21-year-old Lt. Lidar Peretz, hailing from the central city of Or Yehuda. In recognition of her service, she has been posthumously promoted to the rank of captain.

The injured soldier was promptly taken to Soroka Hospital in Beer Sheva for medical attention. However, the specific circumstances leading to the container’s fall and the officer’s unfortunate accident remain unclear at this moment.

The IDF is conducting an investigation into the incident, with the Military Police handling the case. Their findings will be presented to the Military Prosecution for evaluation. To ensure a comprehensive inquiry, the head of the Logistics Directorate, Maj. Gen. Mishel Yanko, and the head of the Northern Command, Maj. Gen. Ori Gordin, have appointed Col. Moshe Artzi, a senior logistics officer, to lead a panel of experts in investigating the matter.

  1. She has been posthumously promoted to the rank of captain. HOW STUPID. They should have honored her with a kaddish and the IDF saying kaddish for her throughout the year.
