President Donald Trump on Thursday announced that 10 percent tariffs on another $300 billion in Chinese imports would take effect next month, escalating the trade war between the world’s two biggest economies as recent negotiations faltered.
Trump tweeted that “the U.S. will start, on September 1st, putting a small additional Tariff of 10% on the remaining 300 Billion Dollars of goods and products coming from China into our Country.”
The Dow plunged into negative territory after Trump’s remarks on Chinese imports, quickly shedding more than 250 points within minutes.
