President Donald Trump Monday lambasted New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio as “a fool” over his “no response” actions after a weekend of violence and shootings in the city.
“He doesn’t know what he’s doing,” said Trump on Fox News’ “Fox and Friends.” “He’s a fool. He’s a socialist, communist, maybe, but he’s a fool. He got rid of some of the most talented policemen that there are in the world … some of those people are gone and that’s no good. No, this is a fool. This is a fool. Look at the shootings.”
His comments came after he warned the mayor on Twitter that if he can’t control the ongoing growth of violence in the city, the federal government will step in.
