Former President Trump argued that he possesses “absolute immunity” from a lawsuit filed against him by Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) over his role in the Jan. 6 riot.

In a 49-page court filing, Trump urged a federal judge to dismiss Swalwell’s March lawsuit, claiming that the statements he made as president in the run-up to the deadly breach of the U.S. Capitol are beyond the court’s reach.

The Democratic lawmaker’s suit accuses Trump, his son Donald Trump Jr., Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.) and Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani of inciting the Jan. 6 riot and conspiring to prevent Congress from certifying President Biden’s election win.

  1. I don’t know if Trump is innocents but a lot of other politicians did a lot worse in regard to the BLM riots and no one is suing them for anything.

  2. “Deadly breach”??? – The Hill is a bunch of RINOs that go along with the left on everything Trump… What a false description, and they know it…

  3. Kudos to Rep. Eric Swalwell.
Former President Trump’s fiery, accusative & totally false rhetoric, that the 2020 Election was “stolen’ from underneath him”, was, no doubt, the ‘root cause’ of the January 6, 2021 Insurrection on the United States Capital the ‘seat’ of our Democratic Republic!!
Trump should have “the book thrown at him”, utilizing ALL legal means!!
