During an interview on MSNBC’s “Inside with Jen Psaki,” former Attorney General Eric Holder expressed his views on the possibility of former President Donald Trump getting reelected in 2024 and subsequently being convicted of a crime. Holder stated that if such a scenario were to occur, impeachment proceedings should be considered, leading to Trump’s removal from office.

According to a report from The Hill, Holder responded to host Jen Psaki’s question about Trump’s commitment to his 2024 presidential campaign and his recent indictments. He commented, “Well, the notion that you could have a trial, defend it, be convicted, somehow win the election, be sworn in as a president, or whenever it happens, that seems inconsistent with our notion of fairness, of the rule of law.”

Holder emphasized that he hoped impeachment proceedings would be initiated and ultimately result in Trump’s removal from office, asserting, “The notion that a convicted felon would serve as president of the United States is absurd. It’s simply absurd.”

When asked about the possibility of impeachment hearings and proceedings in Congress if Trump is convicted, Holder agreed and stated that the impact of the indictment should not be underestimated. He believed that it could have electoral consequences, particularly among those on the fringes of Trump’s support base.

While Trump reiterated his commitment to running for president in 2024 during his speech at the North Carolina GOP convention, Holder expressed skepticism about his ability to survive the indictments and win a general election.

“I’m not a political pundit,” he continued, “but I think at some point, you certainly won’t get beyond, you know, the Trump cult base. But for people who are on the fringes of that, the outside of that, are likely to have been negatively impacted by all of these cases brought against the former president. I think that that will have some electoral effect.

“And so, the likelihood that he’ll be able to survive this and win a general election, I think, is pretty small.”

  1. Just another display of the hate that dominates the Democratic Party. For someone that has been so incompetent at his job and so anti-American, itr is a wonder that the media pays any attention to his barking.

  2. “Well, the notion that you could have a trial, defend it, be convicted, somehow win the election, be sworn in as a president, or whenever it happens, that seems inconsistent with our notion of fairness, of the rule of law.”

The people voting for him (myself excluded) feel the oppisite way. To them the Democrats have politicly weaponized the DOJ so badly that a indictment, trial and conviction can be easily shrugged off as something that seems inconsistent with their notion of fairness, of the rule of law. Therefore they need to elect the guy who claims he will fight it.

Holder for his part for suggesting that an impeachment can be held to remove the legally elected president of the US pretty much confirms that view

  3. Sat the oppisite happens. Trump goes to trial and gets acquitted. Does anyone think for one second that people like Holder are going to say “We made a mistake and went after an innocent person”? Of course not. the editorials about the biased Trump appointed judge and biased Trump voting jury in South Florida have already been written (I saw two so far) Why can’t Trump supporters think the same way in the oppisite direction? Who from EITHER group still trusts the government when it’s claims are being made by people who don’t share their political views?

  4. Eric Holder was dealt with over 2 years ago which is why they brought his name up with some fictitious story.

  5. Trump is doing everything possible to give Joe Biden a second term.

I fear Donald’s Mar-o-lago might have rainbow flags on the INSIDE.

    Too scary.
